My Pledge to Wyoming

Public office is a position of trust. These are the principles that will guide my decisions, my conduct, and my service to the people of Wyoming. They are the standard by which I invite voters to judge me.I believe we are stewards, not owners, of the communities, institutions, resources, and freedoms entrusted to us.

Every generation inherits a Wyoming it did not build and holds it in trust for those who come after. Our responsibility is not simply to preserve what we have, but to strengthen it.

I believe people should be free to build lives of purpose and meaning through their own effort. The role of government is not to direct that effort, but to protect the conditions that allow effort to become opportunity, opportunity to become prosperity, and prosperity to strengthen communities.

I believe disagreement is not a threat to self-government. It is a requirement of it. Good decisions emerge when people are willing to approach one another with curiosity, listen carefully, challenge assumptions, and work through difficult problems together.

  • I will treat those who disagree with me as neighbors, not enemies.
  • I will seek understanding before certainty.
  • I will judge ideas on their merits, not on who proposed them.
  • I will remain willing to change my mind when facts, evidence, or experience show a better path.
  • I will admit mistakes when I make them.
  • I will tell the truth as I understand it, even when it would be easier to remain silent.
  • I will remember that public office is a position of trust, not a position of power.
  • I will work to leave Wyoming stronger, more resilient, and better prepared for the future than it was when I was entrusted with its care.
